So I have been in the fitness industry for roughly 5 years and I have to say that I am happy for the influx of people getting active but I am disenchanted by the individuals out there who are more concerned with looking a certain way than actually being fit and healthy.
Fitness doesn't mean being skinny, being toned, having a six pack, "leaning out" for a competition, or being 10lbs lighter. All that stuff is great if that is what YOU want to achieve, but is it actually healthy?! Fuck no! Sure, you can get those things in a healthy manner but after you achieve those things you still need to be able to sustain it long term.
Society has us brainwashed into believing that if you aren't a size two you aren't beautiful. Society would look at me and label me as overweight or not an ideal size but this is why I don't fall into the self loathing trap that society wants me to fall into. That trap is strategically designed to make you glance at a magazine in the checkout aisle, see the airbrushed model and think self deprecating thoughts. You are sucked in!! Society wins!!
What happens next?! You believe you need to look better but get overwhelmed by the idea of becoming "more beautiful" so you either end up spending ridiculous amounts of money on workout gear and gym memberships to work your ass off in the gym for the next 6 months OR or you end up scarfing down a big mac, extra large fries, and a big gulp in the car on the way home.
It is time to take a stand against the one dimensional images of fitness and help rebuild a positive image of what fitness really is! Real people, of all shapes and sizes, making good meal choices 80% of the time and indulging or treating yourself the other 20% of the time. You shouldn't be working out to look different than you are, you should be working out because you want to be more healthy! Develop yourself completely by doing cardio, strength, flexibility training, as well as developing your mind and soul!
We are all beautiful! Screw fake fitness!!!!
